Nicole and Colby eloped together in the tall, picturesque mountains of South Eastern British Columbia. The rich blue waters nestled beside Emerald Lake Lodge were the perfect background for us to watch and to capture such an amazing love story as it unfolded before our eyes on July 20, 2018.
These two love each other. Deeply. And it was inspiring.
Tracey and I love to photograph intimate weddings and elopements. There is something so pure and beautiful about stripping away all of the non-essentials and instead, taking the entire day to be completely present with your spouse.
We always encourage our couples to remember, at the end of the day, that their wedding is about them and their love for one another. It’s not about the guests or the food or the decor (it’s not about us either!). It’s about being fully committed to one another and taking the day to speak and act that commitment out.
We love shooting all weddings! But elopements and intimate weddings hold a special place in our heart because of how much they emphasize the intimacy and connection of the couple.
If you ever get the chance to meet Nicole and Colby you’ll immediately wish they were your best friends. They are warm hearted and kind with their words, full of laughter and they make you feel like you’ve always known them! Their love for one another shines through in the photographs and the film.
We bonded instantly as we chatted about books we liked (and/or authors we maybe didn’t like), our love for Amazon Prime and of course the supremacy of the television series Brooklyn 99. By the end of the day we felt like they were old friends and we couldn’t have enjoyed our time with them more.
They shared their film with friends and family back home in Texas last weekend during their reception party and we are so thankful to have been trusted with such an important job of capturing the emotion of their day in both photos and video.
Congratulations you two. We wish you all the best as you begin this new chapter of your lives together.
